Trolley Troubles (1927)

Trolley Troubles was the first Oswald the Lucky Rabbit animated short to be released in the series. Held a Los Angeles, California premiere on July 4, 1927, at the Criterion Theatre along with Flesh and the Devil (MGM). Held a New York City, New York premiere on July 15, 1927, at the Roxy Theatre with Singed (Fox). Generally released in theaters on September 5, 1927. Produced for Winkler Pictures by Walt Disney Studios and distributed by Universal Pictures Corporation.

Although it was the first in the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit animated short series to be released, it was not the first to be produced, Poor Papa was supposed to be the first Oswald short released but when it was sent to the distributor, Universal Pictures, they were not satisfied with the final product. The film would be released on June 11, 1928.

Alice’s Wonderland (1923)

I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.” - Walt Disney

One of the more famous quotes by Walt Disney about his pal Mickey Mouse. Things really started to come together for the company Walt Disney started when Mickey Mouse came on the scene in 1928. But before Mickey Mouse, there was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and before that there was Julius the Cat and before that a little girl named Alice. So some may argue that it was all started by a little girl.

Before filing for bankruptcy at Laugh-O-gram Films Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri and heading out to Hollywood, California, Walt Disney and his staff began working on the first Alice Comedy, Alice’s Wonderland.
